LISA COHEN

Lisa Cohen is a mixed-media artist who uses photography, painting, encaustic and digital techniques to create her artwork. Her art centers on her family’s history, and story of escaping Europe during the Holocaust.  She was drawn to encaustic medium because through layering and transparency she can depict memories and fragments of experience. Prior to becoming a mixed-media artist Lisa had a successful career as a freelance photographer. In her career, Lisa was fortunate to photograph such notable figures as Michelle Obama, Hillary and Bill Clinton, Stephen Hawking and Ben Affleck among others. She served on the Watertown cultural arts council for many years. Lisa has exhibited widely around New England and throughout the country. She divides her time between her home in Watertown, MA and on the Cape, in Orleans, MA.  She is a graduate of Clark University with a major in Psychology, and minor in Art.
